              The overarching goal of the project is to develop new ecological sustainable chitosan based nanofibers by ecological electrospinning method in view of application in healthcare and environment protection. Detailed objectives are:

  • to set up conditions for electrospinning chitosan/quaternary salts of chitosan nanofibers (C/Q-NF)
  • to prepare a library of electrospun C/Q-NF products, with various content of different quaternary salts of chitosan  and controlled morphology 
  • to investigate the general and specific properties of the as prepared nanofibers in view of identifying the potential applications
  • to prepare composite C/Q-NF by embedding bio-active fillers 
  • to investigate the general and specific properties of the as prepared composite nanofibers
  • to prepare imino derivatives of C/Q-NF
  • to investigate the general and specific properties of the as prepared imino derivatives of C/Q-NF
  • to provide relevant data on the preparation of C/Q-NFs for targeted applications
