About Objectives Results Dissemination Team Contact

The main strategic objective of Drug-ReSQue project is to provide an opportunity for the PL to consolidate his knowledge and expertise in the field of nanomedicine within the PPIMC by increasing the project leader's capability to develop and implement independent research. Furthermore, the project's implementation will generate scientific results that will increase the visibility of Romanian research at international level.

The main scientific objective of Drug-ReSQue project is to enhance biological and physicochemical features of commercially available drugs by novel method of squalenoylation and/or encapsulation in PEGylated squalene amphiphilic micelles.

The foreseen specific objectives (SO) of Drug-ReSQue project are:

SO1. Design, synthesis and characterization of a series of squalenoylated drugs. This objective will address development of syntheses strategies for the formation of squalene-drugs derivatives. Investigation of physico-chemical, morphological properties and self-assembly behavior.

SO2. Design, synthesis and characterization of a series of squalene-encapsulated drugs. This objective will focus on development of syntheses strategies for the formation of squalene-PEG-drugs derivatives. Investigation of physico-chemical and morphological properties, and self-assembly behavior.

SO3. In vitro testing of the obtained enhanced drugs. The available infrastructure will be used for completion of this objective by investigation of anticancer activity, cytotoxicity study, on commercial cancer cells lines and normal cells, and antimicrobial activity.
