Stage 1 of the project has as its main objectives the testing and selection of polymeric materials with suitable thermal flux and moisture vapor transport properties for the thermoregulating nanocomposite, as well as the establishment of a laboratory-scale manufacturing process for thermoregulating nanocomposite materials.
After optimizing the fabrication process for both the polymeric membrane and the metallic layer, a stable thermoregulating composite material was obtained, maintaining its performance after repeated use cycles. At a 50% strain, the material demonstrated a 29% improvement in the body’s self-regulating capacity (20 W/m² of metabolic heat), excluding energy losses through evaporation or conduction.
