The goal of the project is to find the optimum combination of chemical tools in the same macromolecular architecture to provide materials able to act as active layers in LEDs of targeted efficiency.
We believe that there are only two major feasible strategies to achieve stable white luminescence from polymeric materials: (1) the blended polymeric systems concept which has the issue of intrinsic phase separation; (2) the synthetically challenging, single-component polymeric material pathway.
LEPDICT is guided by a set of pragmatic, specific objectives (O), achievable by original results:
O1. Synthesis of complex emissive components
O2. Achievement of monochrome (red, green, blue, orange) luminescent polymers (key goal)
O3. Rigorous investigation of physical properties
O4. Establishing structure-properties correlations
O5. Overview of luminescent behaviour and proof of concept
O6. Achievement of white light by blending emissive polymers in a single layer (key goal)
O7. Fruition of white light by a single polymer carrying multiple emitters (key goal)
O8. Testing the best polymeric materials in PLED prototypes (key goal)
O9. Optimization of luminescent materials and/or device prototypes
O10. Dissemination of project results. |
