Injectable chitosan based hydrogels acting as biocompatible and biodegradable matrices for 5-fluorouracil formulations with local anticancer application

O1. Synthesis and characterization of at least 24 new hydrogels based on chitosan and pyridoxal 5- phosphate, with good biocompatibility, biodegradability and thixotropic behaviour.
O2. Preparation and characterization of at least 24 drug delivery systems by in situ encapsulation of 5-fluorouracil into the obtained hydrogels, with good biodegradability and thixotropic behaviour.
O3. In vitro validation of at least 12 formulations and corresponding blank hydrogels by testing
their biocompatibility, biodegradability and anticancer activity, on fibroblasts and HeLa cells.
O4. In vivo validation of the 4 formulations by testing the biocompatibility and biodegradability on experimental mice.
O5. Dissemination of the obtained data from this project.
