About Objectives Results Dissemination Team Contact

The central objective of the project is to develop floatable photocatalytic nanocomposite platforms based on highly porous nanocellulose aerogel and ZnO NPs with maximized photocatalytic activity for photodegradation of textiles dyes and production of hydrogen under sunlight for wastewater remediation and carbon emission reduction.

The following four main objectives were established in order to fulfil the project goal:

O1. Preparation and physico-chemical characterization of nano-fibrilated cellulose enriched with carboxyl group

O2. Synthesis of pristine and metal-doped ZnO nanoparticles with tuned morphologies and their thorough characterization

O3. Fabrication of floatable nanocellulosic hybrid aerogels for photocatalytic application

O4. Analysis of the properties of the fabricated hybrid materials. Evaluation of the photocatalytic abilities of the proposed materials.
