Friday, January 23 2026, 12:00, in the Acad. Bogdan C. Simionescu Building’s Conference Hall, Petru Poni Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, dr. Alexandru Pleşoianu (Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer – MAVIS, UMF Iași; Director of CARDIOVASCULAR ENGINEERING) will lecture about “The Artificial Heart Developed in Iași and Aspects from the European Congress of Artificial Organs”.
Specialized in robotics and clinical bioengineering, dr. Alexandru Pleşoianu led the team that designed and built the world’s smallest functional artificial heart, the size of a child’s fist and with an estimated durability of over 100 years. Under his guidance, the team won “The Most Advanced Artificial Heart Award” at the international “Heart Hackathon” competition in Dallas, USA.
