Wednesday, May13th 2026, at 11:00, in the “Petru Poni” Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry's Conference Hall, dr. József Sándor Pap - senior researcher and group leader at the HUN-REN Center for Energy Research in Budapest, Hungary, specializing in electro- and photoelectrocatalysis, hybrid materials and reaction mechanisms - will talk about “PacemCAT: Connecting ICMPP and HUN-REN EK through Hybrid (Photo)electrocatalytic Surface Activation”.
József Sándor Pap is a Senior Research Fellow and Group Leader at the HUN-REN Centre for Energy Research in Budapest, Hungary, specializing in electro- and photoelectrocatalysis, hybrid materials, and reaction mechanisms.
He holds a Ph.D. (2005) in Chemistry from the University of Veszprém (now University of Pannonia).
His education continued by postdoctoral trainings at the Max Planck Institute for Bioinorganic Chemistry in Germany (2005-2007) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the USA (2007-2009).
He returned to Hungary as an Associate Professor at the University of Pannonia (2009-2013), followed by a tenure as the Head of the Department of Surface Chemistry and Catalysis at the MTA/ELKH/HUN-REN Centre for Energy Research (2013-2021).
Since 2022, he has served as a Senior Research Fellow and Group Leader, responsible for designing and executing laboratory-scale electrochemical experiments and leading research projects in the field.
He has been recognized for his contributions as a two-time awardee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences "Bolyai János" Research Scholarship.
