The project main objectives focus on the development of sustainable high performance formulations via Pickering emulsion polymerization using as stabilizers cellulose nanocrystals and lignin with possible application for coatings; providing the scientific-based framework and knowledge for enhanced surface modification of wood and wood-derived products towards fulfilment of higher technical, economic and environmental standards; improvement the professional career of both, project leader and its team, and developing the ability of the project leader to form and maintain a core group of young researchers.
Scientific specific objectives of the project are: (O1) Synthesis of sustainable high-performance formulations; (O2) Morphological and structural characterisation of the new obtained materials; (O3) Preparation of different wood and cellulosic substrates; (O4) Evaluation of the possible interactions/ compatibility between the wood / cellulosic substrate and polymeric structure of the coatings. (O5) Evaluation of the performance and durability of the obtained products (O6) Dissemination of the project results
Technical specific objectives:
(i) project leader will co-ordinate and monitor the progress of the project implementation in accordance with the working plan;
(ii) project leader together with the team will ensure the correct performance of the work and the maintenance of all relationships;
(iii) to promote the Romanian research on European and world level. |
