The main goal of MPSorb project is to prepare and characterize new customized polysaccharide derivatives that could be enforced as versatile building-blocks for preparation of multifunctional sorbents with improved physicochemical and biological properties for wastewater treatment.
Specific objectives:
O1. Chemical modification of neutral, anionic and/or cationic polysaccharides (such as dextran, chitosan, xanthan gum) by Ugi-4CR and their structural and physicochemical characterization;
O2. Preparation and characterization of nanostructurated sorbents based on tailor-made polysaccharide derivatives by green approaches;
O3. Evaluation of the new personalized polysaccharide-based sorbents for removal performance of different pollutants (oils, hydrophobic drugs, heavy metal ions and/or pesticides);
O4. Evaluation of chemical stability, degradability and biological properties of polysaccharide derivatives and of the sorbents obtained based on them;
O5. Training/specialization of PhD/MS students and dissemination of the project results. |
