Iasi is the most important political, economic and cultural centre of the province of Moldavia as well as one of the oldest cities in Romania.
Deeply rooted in history, Iasi has been the main centre of Moldavian culture since 1408. The city prides itself with publishing the first Romanian newspaper and establishing the first Romanian university. Today, Iasi is home to five universities.

In order to reach Iaşi by plane you can fly directly to Iasi (www.aeroport.ro), or via Bucharest (400 km distance from Iasi).
Iaşi International Airport is situated at 8 km distance from downtown (Piaţa Unirii).
The bus 50 connects the airport with the main railway station and downtown (Piaţa Unirii).
Also, taxis are available in the airport.
