Partners
Daniel works at SINTEF in the Smart Sensor and Microsystems department and is the coordinator of COMPAS. He has MChem from the University of Liverpool and a PhD from the University of Oslo.
Dr. Firehun T. Dullo is a Research Scientist at SINTEF in the department of Smart Sensor and Microsystems. He has a PhD from the UiT-The Arctic University of Norway. He has extensive experience in the field of photonics integrated circuits.
Dr. Marco Povoli is a Senior Research Scientist at SINTEF Digital, and holds a doctoral degree from the University of Trento, Italy. He has a decade long experienced in simulation, design, fabrication and characterization of advanced radiation detectors for applications in industry, research, medicine and space.
Dr. Ozhan Koybasi is a Senior Scientist at SINTEF Digital. He holds an MS degree in electrical engineering and a PhD degree in physics from Purdue University, IN, USA. He has ~15 years of experience in development and fabrication of semiconductor (mostly silicon) radiation detectors and photodetectors.
Christopher Dirdal is research Manager of the Micro Optics Group at SINTEF Digital which aims to be a leading research provider of MEMS-based enabling solutions for photonic applications, and strategic partner for industrially relevant optical sensor development and production.
Paul works at SINTEF in the Smart Sensor and Microsystems department. He has a master in applied physics from NTNU and is currently pursuing a PhD degree at the University of Southern Denmark on combining optical metasurfaces with MEMS.
Knut Thorshaug
Martin is a research scientist at SINTEF Industry in the Material Physics Oslo group. He has a M.Sc. degree in material sciences from EPFL. He has extensive experience in characterisation of materials, mainly with XPS, SEM-EDS-EBSD and optical microscopy techniques.
Dr. Erik Wischerhoff obtained a Ph. D. in Chemistry at the Johannes-Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. After working in polymer- and sensor-related R&D in several companies, he joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research in 2007. His research interests comprise polymers soluble or dispersible in aqueous media, stimulus-responsive polymers, polymers at interfaces, and the synthesis and characterisation of functional polymers
Per Kjellgren is the founder and technical director of Flowphys and has 30+ years of experience with research and development of scientific software, especially based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) for multi-physics applications. The research has been done both in academia (Univ. of Tokyo, Univ. of Arizona, Chalmers, KTH) and in industry (ABB, SLB, Aibel, Kongsberg Group), and full-time in Flowphys since 2016.

Mariana-Dana Damaceanu obtained the PhD and Habilitation in Chemistry at the Romanian Academy, and attended a 15 months PhD fellowship at CNR-ISMAC in Milan. Presently, she is Senior Researcher and Head of Electroactive Polymers and Plasmochemistry Department at ICMPP. Her interest is focused on organic/polymer materials for electronics, optoelectronics, and energy-related applications.
Irina Butnaru is a Researcher at ICMPP with a PhD in Chemistry since 2010. She attended a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at EMPA, St. Gallen. Her field of research relates to innovative polymer-based materials and polymer nanocomposites, their processing for use in electronics, optoelectronics, sensors, gas separation membranes, and energy field, among others.
Radu-Dan Rusu holds a PhD in chemistry from ICMPP and attended a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at ETH Zürich. He is focused on the application-driven development of linear/hyperbranched, heteroaromatic, condensation macromolecular architectures with enhanced performance for various applications (organic electronics, membranes and bio/environmental sensors in particular).
Catalin-Paul Constantin is a Researcher at ICMPP since 2014 and holds a PhD in Chemistry. He has expertise in the synthesis and physico-chemical characterization of heteroaromatic low-molecular and macromolecular compounds, polymer processing in thin films and coatings, and assessment of their applicative potential for use in various (opto)electronic devices.
Loredana Vacareanu holds a PhD degree in Chemistry since 2010 after being a PhD fellow for 3 months at Cardiff University (UK). She has expertise in the design and (electro)synthesis of innovative electroactive oligomers/polymers and their photophysical characterisation for use in (opto)electronics, sensors, and energy conversion and storage.

Adriana-Petronela Chiriac is a Postdoc researcher at ICMPP with expertise in organic synthesis, particularly of aromatic/heterocyclic monomers and polymers. She is interested in the development of thin films and composite/blend materials based on polymers for sensors and energy applications.
Milan Milosevic is Research and Innovation Manager at PHIX Photonics Assembly where he currently leads PHIX’s R&D team developing next generation products and services for the company. Milan brings over 15 years of experience in technology innovation, R&D industry, and product development in optical datacom, optical communications, and photonics. Prior to PHIX, he was working in the UK, US, and Japan, holding various positions, from engineering to leading teams, and establishing new projects to drive innovation.
Anneirudh Sundararajan is a Project Leader at PHIX Photonics Assembly and serves as the leader of Work Package 3 (WP3) in the COMPAS project. With a strong foundation in flip-chip bonding technology for photonic components, Anneirudh excels in the packaging of photonic integrated circuits (PICs). Before joining PHIX, Anneirudh gained valuable experience in Germany as a Process Development Engineer at a photonic packaging company. He also pursued a PhD at the University of Twente, where he focused on integrating optical components with MEMS-based microfluidic devices. His work involved advanced techniques such as Coriolis mass flow sensing and spectroscopy for fluid characterization.
